No.1 – Codename Comfy
Bring comfy and practical clothes, that is not too tight – but is of course still cool looking. My favorite jeans at the moment is Levis 501 Surf Shack. They are nice to wear and can be worn both day and night, riding bikes and at dinner time with a pair of heels or pretty sandals.
No. 2 – Sneaky, Sneaky
When visiting a big city you usually walk a mile or two and there is nothing worse than walking in bad shoes. It can give you knee- and back pain, blisters on your feet and worst of all it can really kill your exploration spirit. So I bring my Nike Rosherun, in which I can walk for miles. Usually I have a couple of sneakers with me, just because walking in the same shoes for days can be tiring for the feet, so for the sake of variation – bring more than one pair of shoes. And not completely new ones you haven’t worn yet. No no..
No. 3 – I Love Notes
And at times I have a bad memory. Especially when you get so many new impressions. Bring a notebook to gather information on things to see and do, places to eat, songs you have heard on your trip and other things that left an impression. I like writing stuff down like advise given by people I meet, so I can remember them and to pass them on to others, like you guys! On etsy.com you can get tons of pretty notebooks from talented and creative people making them, themselves. At the moment I am (like a lot of other people) really into floral.
No. 4 – Sunprotection
Being all mom-like (sorry), get yourself a facecreme with sunscreen to protect your skin from the UV radiation when walking around the city. You are usually out most hours of the day and even though it is not clear skies and burning sun all the time, you are still exposed. I fancy this one from Origins (for normal skin).
No. 5 – My name is fanny
And I do not wear it all 80’s like. Some people can really rock that, I can’t so I wear mine like a cross-over bag. I like the fanny pack, bumbags or whatever people call them nowadays (I’m a little confused by this) because it can contain your essentials and it doesn’t get heavy. Win-win. Get yours from ASOS here.
No. 6 – Sunnies
Bring a good pair of sunglasses, because walking around sqeezing your eyes together all day is just not nice and let’s face it, you will look cool :). Danish brand Han Kjøbenhavn is the designer behind the above and they have a great range of sunglasses a very good prices.
No. 7 – Yum Yum
Always, and I mean always have snacks in your bag. Raw bars, nuts, fruit anything you never know when you will need it.
No. 8 – Paparazzi!
No. 9 – No germs
Handsanizer is my best friend during all kinds of travel really. Just to freshen up in between being able to wash your hands and before grabbing a handful of your snack nuts. Not that I am a germaphobe, but you know..
No. 10 – Be gone blisters
Blister Band-Aids from Compeed are essential and they are so much better than regular band aids because they work like a hole new layer of skin protecting the blister. Put it on and give it a good rub and just leave it, till it comes of on its own. Even if you bring more than one pair of shoes, blisters can still find the way to your feet (damn you).
